The Paper Players: Snowflakes

Hi there!

Nancy is the hostess this week at The Paper Players, with a theme challenge:

I have a shiny blue snowflake card for your inspiration!

up close...

and another angle...

Every time I have to photograph a foiled card, I tell myself... NOT AGAIN!

So pretty and shiny IRL, but oh so difficult to take a good photo!
Even the slightest change in angle , and the color changes or the shine is gone. But I guess that's why it's so amazing IRL !

Anyway, I did my best with the 3 shots above.

The snowflake is from the Silhouette store Design ID #48503.

I used the black fill option, printed the snowflake with my laser printer, cut it out with a small offset, and added Decofoil from Therm-o-Web with a laminator.

I also designed the sentiment in the Silhouette studio, and foiled it simultaneously.

The sentiment, for you to use, if you wish to 😊

I can't wait to see your snowflake cards!

The Paper Players #323: A sketch by Sandy

Hi there!

I am so glad you popped in to take a look at the card I made for your inspiration over at The Paper Players !

A lovely versatile layout... Love it Sandy!

A closer look:

The sunflower bouquet is a design from Tanya Batrak : Design ID #150566 in the Silhouette store.

I used the cutting file as a digital stamp by using the black fill option, and applied a small offset to cut the outline. I colored the image with my Promarkers.

The thankful sentiment is also from the Silhouette store : Design ID #159823. 'For you' part is computer generated (Font : Dream Orphans)

The grid BG is from the Pixel Scrapper, you can find it here.

I found inspiration for my card from the following challenges:

The Paper Players: A CAS Christmas challenge

Hi there!

With Christmas just a little more than a month away, we have just the challenge for you this week at The paper players !

My card :

A closer look:

Santa and his Merry Christmas sentiment is from Apex Cuttable designs.

I ungrouped the Santa and sentiment in the Silhouette studio, traced both the image and sentiment in order to

  1. change the colors of the sentiment from black to red and green
  2. change the Santa to a black and white line image suitable for coloring

I colored the Santa with Promarkers, popped the sentiment panel up on my card base, and finished off the card by adding the Santa.

Adding my link to the photo inspiration challenge at Addicted to stamps.

I hope to see you join the fun at The Paper Players!

Have a great Sunday!

The Paper players #321 : A color challenge

Hi there!

Time for a color challenge at The Paper Players !

Joanne's lovely color palette inspired me to make a Christmas card, but hey, you are free to show us how creative you can be with this palette!

A closer look:

I fell in love with this elegant , tall and slender reindeer silhouette the moment I saw her! Yes I think it might me Rudolph's sister, because those legs! ☺

To accommodate the lovely shape, I made a tall and skinny card. I thought horizontal stripes will work well to balance out the design, so I used the 2 greens in the color combination, to make a striped background from strips of card stock.

The panel I created was a little to wide, so I sliced off a small part, and then got the idea to alternate the colors on the one border of the background.

To add interest I embellished the flourish with rhinestones.

The reindeer silhouette is a cutting file from Apex Cuttables.

The Sentiment is from the Silhouette store  Design ID #106906.

The Paper Players #319 ~ Tic-Tac-Toe

Hi there!

Tic-Tac-Toe challenges are always so much fun, and that is exactly what we have for you this week at The Paper Players.

The 3 elements I picked are :
  • glitter
  • washi tape
  • pine

My card:

A closer look:

Ok so you want to know where the washi tape is...and the pine?

All the delicious gold glitter you see is washi tape! After cutting the pine tree from the panel on the right, I covered it with the washi tape, also on the sentiment panel.

The sentiment stamp is one from a free holiday set I received with a card making magazine, last year I think, stamped with Versafine Black.

I then added tiny golden pearls for interest .

The idea for my card was build upon THIS CARD I made a couple of years ago ☺

I used the sketch from Freshly made sketches for my layout.

Thanks for looking!

Have a great week!

The Paper Players #318: A sketch by Jaydee

Hi there!

It's a sketch week at The paper players!

As many times before, when faced with a sketch that has a couple of layered elements, I try to see how I can "CASify" it :)

This is how it turned out:

Decofoil Christmas tree card

A closer look:

Decofoil Christmas tree card

So... my Christmas tree takes the place of the vertical panel, and instead of a sentiment on a banner, I added it directly to the circle element. And there you have all the elements presented in a CAS way!

The Christmas tree is a free SVG I found HERE.

I printed it in black with a laser printer and applied green and silver Decofoil with my laminator.

The sentiment is from the Silhouette store Design ID #110161.

To finish off the tree I added a couple of bright pink rhinestones.

First Christmas card done and dusted... and with that being said and done... I am joining Muse Christmas visions challenge where Cornelia also has a shiny Christmas tree as inspiration this week!

I hope you will add a card to the Paper Players gallery this week!

Hugs and thanks for visiting me today!

The Paper Players #317

Hi there!

We have a fun new CAS challenge at The paper players this week!

The season with the most beautiful color palette is here, and we want you to show us those colors using leaves in your CAS design!

My card to inspire you to play along looks like this:

watercolored Autumn leaves

A closer look at the detail...

watercolored Autumn leaves

... and a last one ;)

watercolored Autumn leaves

This really was a pleasant experiment with distress inks and Altenew stamps!

I combined 2 sets :

  • Brush Art floral to create the striped background.
  • Golden Garden for the leaves.
Colors used :
  • Peeled paint.
  • Spiced marmalade.
  • Mustard seed.
  • Vintage photo for the leaves.
I used one of the smaller brush stroke stamps in the different colors, and softened the look by adding a small amount of water with a fine paintbrush.

After it dried, I stamped the leaves and also added very little water to achieve the water colored effect.
I layered the created background over leaves stamped and water colored directly onto the card base.

The sparkly gold peeping from behind the BG is glittered washi tape from 3M.

To finish off I stamped the sentiment and added touches of gold liquid pearls.

I used the largest flower from the Brush art floral set by Altenew.

I stamped the flower with Pigment ink from Avery Elle in the following colors:
  • Papaya
  • Fizz
  • Lemon grass &
  • Peeled paint (Tim Holtz) for the darker green accents.
The black striped BG was stamped with Versafine onyx black.

The sentiment is my own design, and as always, shared with you ;)
