Soft and subtle: Flower Fusion

Hi there!

The wonderful inspiration photo and sketch  at Fusion card challenge and Flower themed challenge at CAS on Sunday inspired today's card !

Also adding my link to the anything goes challenge at Simon says stamp Wednesday challenge.

I used the photo as well as the sketch this week, by stamping flowers and leaves in 2 shades of pink and 2 shades of green. (Free flower stamp set from Papercraft essentials magazine)
Avery Elle and Stamperia pigment inks.

The silhouette cut sentiment and banner in silver were layered over vellum before I adhered it to the card base.

Three enamel dots to finish off the design.

The Paper Players #319 ~ Tic-Tac-Toe

Hi there!

Tic-Tac-Toe challenges are always so much fun, and that is exactly what we have for you this week at The Paper Players.

The 3 elements I picked are :
  • glitter
  • washi tape
  • pine

My card:

A closer look:

Ok so you want to know where the washi tape is...and the pine?

All the delicious gold glitter you see is washi tape! After cutting the pine tree from the panel on the right, I covered it with the washi tape, also on the sentiment panel.

The sentiment stamp is one from a free holiday set I received with a card making magazine, last year I think, stamped with Versafine Black.

I then added tiny golden pearls for interest .

The idea for my card was build upon THIS CARD I made a couple of years ago ☺

I used the sketch from Freshly made sketches for my layout.

Thanks for looking!

Have a great week!

Uniko rainbow challenge... a reminder !

Hi there!

Just a quick reminder about the RAINBOW challenge over at Uniko studio where I am gust designer this month!

You still have plenty time to enter... and remember, Uniko products are not required ☺

For my card today, I used the I love tea set!

Yes I love tea and I LOVE this set!

I love tea - Uniko studio

I created a B&W background by randomly stamping the outline teacup. I then added the rainbow accents by stamping the tiny but beautiful heart with swirl in rainbow colors.

I finished off the card with one of the beautiful sentiment from the set.

I hope you will join the rainbow fun!

CAS(e) this sketch #196

Hi there!

It's time for (CAS)e this sketch !

This week's challenge is a little special.  We were contacted by Karen of Feline Creative about possibly joining her in creating cards for a local animal shelter.  The team thought that would be absolutely awesome so we decided to open it up to all of you as well.  So, this week's sketch is going to be our first CAS(E) for a Cause!

Now, it is not required that you participate in our CAS(E) for the Cause to play along with our challenge.  You are more than welcome to just use the sketch and enter your card as normal.  All cards will be considered for the win.  However, if you feel so inclined, we'd love to have you join in the fun.  Here's a few details about the CAS(E) and you can visit Karen to read more.

TYPE OF CARDS REQUESTED:

They are looking for mostly general and thank you pet themed cards (no wild animals please).   Some birthday, sympathy and anniversary cards are welcome too.  Please leave the inside of the cards blank for the humane society to write personal messages.   Please include envelopes.  No plastic sleeves.

MAIL CARDS TO:
Karen Howard
9088 Country Avenue
Monticello, MN 55362

We hope you'll join us in sending cards to Karen for this really awesome cause!

Being a dog lover myself, I am joining the fun... for sure!

This is my card, using the sketch flipped upside down!

I found this cute pup in an online coloring book here.

I opened the image in the silhouette studio, and used the trace, print and cut function to prepare it for my card.

I colored him with DERWENT Inktense pencils. I think this is only the second time ever I tried coloring on kraft, and I really love the way it turned out. I will try it again soon, for sure!

The paw prints are free clip art I found here.

The sentiment is my own and as always you are welcome to use it :)

Shake-a-smile!

Hi there!

I had so much creating this card... with all this cute smiley faces on my desk, I found myself smiling all the way from the beginning right to the point where I am typing up this post!

smiley face birthday shaker card

A close up:

smiley face birthday shaker card

I created the cutting file for the shaker in the Silhouette Studio, by welding the offset shape from the 'smile' to a basic frame.

The smiley faces are part of a set of 7 emoticons by Spellbinders.

I think you are going to see a lot of them in the future on my blog! Each face are made up of 2 layers. So the black you can see is actually negative space peeping through the top yellow layer.

Yes... and off course although not visible, everything is kept inside by an acetate layer.

I have put the 2 phrases of my sentiment together to share with you:

Sharing at the following challenges:

Less is more   ~ Use acetate or vellum

Inkspirational challenges  ~ Black & one color

Seize the birthday ~ No toppings

CASology : Cure

Hi there!

CASology  time!

Where will this week's cue card take you?

It made me literally think out of the box this week ... the tissue box!

I know tissues won't really cure any illness, but it will surely help to get you there!

This is how it looks like empty:

And this is how it looks closed and ready to go into an envelope :

Dimensions (closed) : 9 x 11.5cm

Design ID #62550 From the Silhouette online store with my own sentiment.
Font : Cashew Apple Ale

This is the first time I made a pop up card and let me tell you it was so much fun!
It also was a fabulous opportunity to use up some patterned paper that's been waiting in a drawer very patiently!

You might be wondering (like I was wondering) where the saying "bless you" after someone sneezes,  originated. If you are interested to learn something new today, click here ☺.

You can do anything!

Hi there!

I hope this Monday is treating you with love and kindness!

I have a quick card to share... inspired by a couple of challenges :)

Close up:

My card features the Casual Friday set called Breathe. I used the brush stroke stamp to stamp the heart in an area I masked with a negative of a die cut heart.

The light pink is Pixie (Avery Elle)
The red is Watermelon (Ranger - Adirondack)

I used my new!!! Misti to stamp the sentiment with Versamark over the stamped brush strokes. I had to repeat the sentiment stamping 3 times to get good coverage over the pigment inks. I would never be able to get this result without my new toy (insert happy face)!

Challenges:

The Paper Players #318: A sketch by Jaydee

Hi there!

It's a sketch week at The paper players!

As many times before, when faced with a sketch that has a couple of layered elements, I try to see how I can "CASify" it :)

This is how it turned out:

Decofoil Christmas tree card

A closer look:

Decofoil Christmas tree card

So... my Christmas tree takes the place of the vertical panel, and instead of a sentiment on a banner, I added it directly to the circle element. And there you have all the elements presented in a CAS way!

The Christmas tree is a free SVG I found HERE.

I printed it in black with a laser printer and applied green and silver Decofoil with my laminator.

The sentiment is from the Silhouette store Design ID #110161.

To finish off the tree I added a couple of bright pink rhinestones.

First Christmas card done and dusted... and with that being said and done... I am joining Muse Christmas visions challenge where Cornelia also has a shiny Christmas tree as inspiration this week!

I hope you will add a card to the Paper Players gallery this week!

Guest designing for Uniko : A Rainbow challenge

Hi there!

So excited to share a card with you today as guest designer at Uniko Studio !

Thank you Beverley for inviting me!

We have a very popular color challenge to inspire you this month!

I made a card using one of the amazing digis Bev offered here in the Simply cards & Papercraft magazine.

Uniko studio digital freebie floral heart

A design made easy by using the Silhouette Studio software.

I used my Promarkers to color the beautiful flower heart in the colors of the rainbow.

No one can resist a rainbow, so come join the fun, and remember you don't need to use Uniko products :)

The design team has wonderful inspiration lined up on the Uniko blog... so time to get inspired!

Thanks for visiting me today ☺

CAS(e) this sketch # 195

Hi there!

I can't believe it's Thursday again! Time flies!

You know what this means... new sketch inspiration brought to you with the compliments of CAS(e) this sketch !

How will Chrissy's sketch inspire you?

I made two cards this week . I made the one without the background first... and then looked at the sketch again, and thought , actually this calls for some kind of background, so I grabbed the same colors of Promarkers I used to color the flowers, and just randomly *yes me* drew stripes to create a kind of messy look to honor Chrissy's sketch.

Here it is... with backround :

... and without :

I LOVE the style of Rhonna Farrer's designs in the Silhouette store. It's modern, bold and fresh!

I hope you will join us again!

sending Hugs... for Muse

Hi there!

Just a quick hello with a card inspired by Jenni  at Muse card club .

I love the soft aqua and white look of Jenni's card, and wanted to honor this in my CASE.

Further on, I used the same basic layout with die cuts, but picket dots instead of stripes.

Both the bird and floral frame are Silhouette designs

Design ID #63035

Design ID #18628

My sentiment... you are welcome to use it :)

I am also linking to the anything goes with dies challenge at Happy little stampers.

CASology : Coffee

Hi there!

We have a new cue card to inspire you this week at CASology ... and I am sure you are going to love it!

I know I can't start my day without it :)

Take a closer look at the fabulous foil :

The heartbeat graphic is from the Silhouette store ( Design ID #149111)

Instead of using it as a cutting file, I used the fill option to print it with my laserprinter and add pink/red foil with a laminator.

I then added my own sentiment and a little take away coffe cup, cut with my Silhouette from vellum.
I added a 'cuff ' (hand cut from kraft card stock) and tiny punched heart.

I played around with the sentiment after I finished my card and came up with this version to share with you:

The Paper Players #317

Hi there!

We have a fun new CAS challenge at The paper players this week!

The season with the most beautiful color palette is here, and we want you to show us those colors using leaves in your CAS design!

My card to inspire you to play along looks like this:

watercolored Autumn leaves

A closer look at the detail...

watercolored Autumn leaves

... and a last one ;)

watercolored Autumn leaves

This really was a pleasant experiment with distress inks and Altenew stamps!

I combined 2 sets :

  • Brush Art floral to create the striped background.
  • Golden Garden for the leaves.
Colors used :
  • Peeled paint.
  • Spiced marmalade.
  • Mustard seed.
  • Vintage photo for the leaves.
I used one of the smaller brush stroke stamps in the different colors, and softened the look by adding a small amount of water with a fine paintbrush.

After it dried, I stamped the leaves and also added very little water to achieve the water colored effect.
I layered the created background over leaves stamped and water colored directly onto the card base.

The sparkly gold peeping from behind the BG is glittered washi tape from 3M.

To finish off I stamped the sentiment and added touches of gold liquid pearls.

I am adding my link to the following challenges:
