CASology : Fortune

Hi there!

CASology time again! I am so excited to see how our cue will inspire your designs this week!

I made a card inspired by the wheel of fortune!

When you don't have any stamps available for a specific theme, you have to improvise!

My card is a combination of digital and 'traditional' stamping and coloring.

I created the wheel and 'you are' part of the sentiment in the Silhouette studio, colored each segment of the wheel with distress ink, and stamped the small words in each segment using sentiment stamps from the 'Truth is' set by Cas-ual fridays stamps, stamped with Versafine black ink.

The wheel is attached to the card with a brad and it really spins!

A couple of enamel dots to finish off the card.

No matter where the wheel stops , the recipient will feel special... and that is what we as card makers aim to do, don't we?!

CASology : Education

Hi there!

It's that time of the year (in the northern hemisphere) ... the start of a new school year !

With this in mind ,  CASology bring you the following cue card this week :

... but remember... the cue is always open to your take on it... so show us your interpretation!

Here's mine:

A closer look:

 ... and the supplies:

Cutting file from :  Apex Cuttables.

For Silhouette users, I have this useful tip:

When using a cutting file which wasn't necessarily designed to be used on the small scale like that of a card, you have to make some changes. In this case I selected the parts that were too small to cut, selected the black fill option, and printed it instead of cutting it.

For this reason, I printed the sentiment, the glasses, string of the teabag, and the mouth of the teacup.

After that you are ready to  assemble your card, and add the finishing touches.

I used distress inks to add color to my die cuts, because everything were cut from white card stock.

After applying the distress ink, I added interest to the books by tone on tone stamping using background stamps from Kaisercraft & Stamperia.

Googly eyes for the fun!

CASology : Square

Hi there !

Time for a new cue card  at CASology to inspire your card making this week!

My card for your inspiration:

A closer look:

The flower cutting file is a design by one of my favorite designers in the Silhouette store, Tanya Batrak. Using the flower on the small scale of a card makes the small detail a bit tricky to cut. The solution to that is to use the fill option the Silhouette studio provides, print it and only cut the outline ! Voila! Of course there are many fill option available, colors, patterns and also gradients of color.

I also designed the square background pattern in the studio. Cut it twice and layered it for dimension. I love this technique of faux embossing!

The sentiment was also designed in the studio, using the font 'modern no 20' .

CASology : BUD

Hi there!

Where will this week's cue card take your creativity?! Looking forward to see your card inspired by the cue card at CASology !

My card for your inspiration:

I used one of our sponsor's cute images, traced it in my Silhouette studio, and used my cameo to cut it out. I also designed the sentiment strip in the studio, using the font " DJB upstairs at the abbey ".

You are welcome to download and use it on your projects!

I love this font, because you can add color to it with markers or coloring pencils if you wish !

I added color to the background with subtle stenciling.
