Seize the birthday: No toppings

Hi there!

The last day of 2015 has arrived. The last challenge of the year at Seize the birthday has arrived. Also my last post as part of the DT at Seize the birthday .

I had a wonderful time sharing creativity at this fabulous challenge blog. I made a lot of wonderful friends here, and you will all see me in the future, not in the DT gallery but in the players gallery!

For the next 2 weeks, we invite you to share ANY newly created birthday card, as it is a no topping week. What a great way to get inspired so early in the new year!

I used my Silhouette gold sketch pens to create this card, and added one of my older sentiments to complete the design.

I hope to see you play along and can't wait to see what you will create!

Thanks for visiting me today.

I wish you all a happy, healthy and blessed 2016!

Hugs

Seize the birthday with red & white.

Hi there!

With all the beautiful Christmas colors surrounding us this time of the year, we would love to see how you will use 2 traditional Christmas colors , red & white, on a birthday card!

Yes, that's our topping for the next 2 weeks at Seize the birthday. As always any other newly created birthday card is so very welcome in our gallery.

My card:

My first card using my Zig clean color markers ! I waited so long for it... more than 3 months ! Ordered through Amazon, who could ? would ? not deliver to the UAE. So I had them shipped to my mom's address in South-Africa, and were able to bring them home when we travelled there for my niece's wedding a couple of week's ago!

I think the wait was worth it, because I had so much fun experimenting! I love how vibrant the colors are, but still have the water colored look. My first try is far from spectacular, but I enjoyed every moment and well, that's what it's all about!

Stamp set from Altenew called Doodle blooms. Another first for me using Altenew's amazing stamps :D

To stay true to myself, Because I didn't have a sentiment to match the look of the image , I added my own sentiment , and will share it below:

Thanks for visiting me today... hope to see you play along!

Seize the birthday: Toppings of vellum or acetate

Hi there!

We have a fun new challenge at Seize the birthday for the next 2 weeks. You can play with our topping of vellum or acetate, or share any newly created birthday card with us. The choice is yours!

                                             Seize the Birthday

I stamped the butterfly from Stamperia with Versafine onyx black ink and added vellum wings.

I did that by scanning the stamped image, tracing it in my Silhouette programme, and cutting it afterwards.

Sentiment and flowers from a Hero arts sentiment set.

Vellum is so fabulous to make a really simple project something special!

I hope you will play along at Seize the birthday this fortnight!

Thanks for visiting me today!

Seize the birthday : pocket cards

Hi there!

This week at seize the birthday we invite you to make a pocket card, or... any other newly created birthday card !

I have something different to share... as my 'pocket' is actually an envelope folded from a heart shape!

It contains a bookmark-like card with a simple sentiment. It was fun to create something different this week ;)
Here's a couple of pictures to inspire you:

I am linking up at Simon says stamp where the challenge is  to " wrap it up ".
I hope you will join us this week!

Thanks for visiting me today ;)

Seize the birthday : Splatter !

Hi there!

I am so excited to tell you about our new feature at Seize the birthday from this week on!

Every month we will ask a faithful participant to join the design team as our

  SURPRISE PARTY GUEST!

To kick off this new feature I am so pleased to introduce you to Anita in France ! Anita is no stranger in blogland and is a very talented and such a sweet and supportive fellow card maker!
Welcome Anita!

The topping for the next 2 week is to show us some kind of splatter on your card. As always, you are more than welcome to link any newly created birthday themed card, no need to splatter!

This is my inspiration... 2 cards this time! I guess I got carried away !

Do you have a favorite?

or...

My focal point is a Silhouette cut butterfly , framed by a flower mandala from an online coloring book. With the current adult coloring craze going on, mandalas is such a fun thing to color. There are SO MANY wonderful mandalas available on line, and they make fabulous 'digital stamps' for cards... and they are FREE!!! I selectively colored the mandala with my Promarkers.

I added my own computer generated sentiment and a bit of bling!

Inspiration for my card was provided by a couple of other challenge:

Less is more  ~ Jewel colors

Cas-ual fridays ~ Tic-tac-toe ( I picked coloring -  spritzing - die cutting )

Virginia's view challenge  ~ All things colored.

A very simple sentiment... but I saved it for you as many of you told me you love the white on black sentiments!

Hope to see you play at Seize the birthday!

Thanks for visiting me today!

Seize the birthday : border punches or border dies

Hi there !

The challenge at seize the birthday this week is to use a border punch or die !

But as every week, you are welcome to play with the no topping option and link any newly created birthday card.  Remember winners are picked from both options !

My card made to inspire you :

I used a scalloped edge border die from MFT.

I completed the right side of the design with a stamped panel. Flower stamp from kaisercraft.

Dots from a Casual Friday stamp set.

(yes I stamped !)

The sentiment is my own... shared with you as I always do!

Hope to see you at Seize the birthday this coming fortnight!

I am linking this card to the no designer paper challenge at Simon says stamp.

Seize the birthday - no toppings!

Hi there!

It's your favorite week at Seize the birthday !

No toppings... Anything goes birthday linky party time!

                                                  Seize the Birthday

For my inspiration I picked the traditional happy birthday to you song, and captured the familiar tune in rainbow colored notes.

This is how it looks ;)

A close up of the scored note bar:

I am sharing my birthday card at the Cas-ual fridays musical themed challenge.

Now it's your turn to create!

Hope to see your card in the gallery at Seize the birthday ;)

Seize the birthday (weather)

Hi there!

I am here to invite you to play at Seize the birthday for the next 2 weeks ... where the topping this time is weather. Include any sunshine, clouds, etc. element/s on your card. Feel free to go with the no topping option, and show us any newly created birthday card!

                                               Seize the Birthday

Here's my take on the theme:

... and another angle:

To create an interesting background for my weather scene, I folded the bottom part of the card at an angle, to show the lovely polka dots on the flip side. I added a transparent panel on the inside in order to make the card stand upright. The sentiment , sun and clouds were all cut with my Silhouette.

Fonts used: pharmacy and fox in the snow.

The layout of my card was inspired by the sketch at  Less is more.

I am also linking my card to the anything goes challenge at Simon says stamp Wednesday challenge.

Thanks for visiting me today!

yellow bird and polka dot birthday card

I created the polka dotted circle background the same way as described here by double masking and coloring the dots with my promarkers.

I added a Silhouette cut yellow bird and a hero arts sentiment. 3 Enamel dots to complete the picture.

Seize the birthday : Embossing

Hi there!

Wow , so many entries for the anything goes challenge the last fortnight at Seize the birthday !

Remember... there's an anything goes option every week if you don't want to play with the optional topping twist, which this week is... EMBOSSING ( any kind ! )

I used heat embossing this time :

... and another angle to show the embossing:

To make my card I used a mask (cut with my Silhouette) for the tilted square , and used a stencil to ink the polka dots. I then used clear embossing powder to give the magic touch.

A few rhinestones to enhance the effect, and a sentiment to finish my card.

The happy was cut with my Silhouette (font: Jenna Sue) and the birthday to you was added digitally (font: dream orphans)

I hope to see your creations in the gallery at Seize the birthday!

I am adding my  link to the embossing challenge at Cas-ual fridays and the anything goes challenge at Simon says stamp Wednesday challenge and the B&W (with a splash of color) challenge at Uniko studio.

Thanks for visiting me today!
