Guesting at Time Out - Make your own background - Challenge #220

 Hi there!

I am delighted to join the Time out challenge team as guest designer for this fortnight's challenge!

The challenge is to : Make your own background !

I decided to go back in time and try something again ... a technique I remember from arts & crafts in primary school ... many many years ago.

It is another way to use scraps of card stock. Tear it to tiny pieces and glue it down to a piece of card stock or scrap paper You can then die cut it or use it as you wish to create a bright and happy background. I tried a couple of ways or "patterns" and decided that the more random I placed them, the better! To give my project a smooth finish, I applied a layer or two of Modge Podge with a small sponge.

So here it is :

A die cut sentiment ( Simon says stamp : basic box card happy birthday die ) with a couple of small stars finish off the card in a clean & simple and effective way... and shows off the pretty background!

The challenge is sponsored by STAMPlorations. The prize is a $25.00 gift voucher for the STAMPlorations Digital Store (good for 6 months).

I really hope you'll join the fun and share a creative way to make your own background!

I am sharing my card at :

Seize the birthday : Playing with the topping of : No stamping

Thank for having me Time Out team... and thank YOU for visiting me today!

Hannelie

Your card is fantastic, Hannelie. I really thought it was done with torn pieces of washi. Now I see that it was torn scraps and Mod Podge! Regardless of how you made it, I love it and I am so happy that you are with us for this fun challenge as Guest Designer! Thank so much for joining us!

Your torn scraps make a great background. I think I would try dry-embossing it, too. That might add some fun texture.

This looks amazing Hannelie - not sure I'd have the patience for that technique...worth the effort though judging by your vibrant creation!

This is really wonderful. It may recall a childhood project, but it is actually quite beautiful and sophisticated. Thanks so very much for being our Guest Designer at Time Out.
