Good Luck!

Hi there!

Lazy Saturday afternoon here in Abu Dhabi.

Said goodbye to our youngest daughter this morning at the airport. When she arrived home early July, Summer seemed long, but when I look back now, I wonder what happened to the hours, days and weeks. I miss her already, and Sugar keeps looking for her (insert sad face)

Next visit is December, for Christmas...

The best medicine is to keep busy, so this is what I made today. A good luck card. Appropriate for our student who start her 3rd year of uni next week.

Inspiration for my card comes from a couple of challenges:

Muse card club  ~ Inspired by Marilyn. I focused on the following elements:

  • Color palette
  • General layout
  • Technique

Addicted to CAS ~ Silhouette

Darnell's  NBUS challenge ~ I used a NBUS sentiment stamp from Penny Black flower sparks set.

To create the background, I cut 6 rectangles with the smallest die from the Memory Box pinpoint rectangle set. I used my Zig Markers to scribble on a piece of acetate . Colors used:
  • Scarlet red
  • Red
  • Bright yellow
Spritzed with water, and swooshed every rectangle through the water/paint mixture.
I popped every rectangle up on foam tape to create dimension.

Branch with leaves from the Silhouette store. Cut with my cameo from black card stock.

Thanks for visiting me today!

Enjoy your weekend ☺

Hannelie

Hello Hannelie, saying goodbye is never a fun thing to do and when it is time to do so the countdown until the next visit starts immediatly ;) It is nice to have a hobby so you can take your mind of thinking about it for a while. I live in the Netherlands and my oldest daughter in the United Kingdom so I understand the feeling.
Over to your beautiful card, I love how you've made the background. Beautiful soft colours and the black branche and sentiment are popping of your card, I love it...
Greetings Miranda

She knows how much you love her, and you and your DH have raised your girls well. Time will go fairly quickly until Christmas when you're reunited. Hang in there mama! Sugar will keep you on your toes. Your card for her is beautiful. I love that technique and may have to give it a try again soon. The black branch is the perfect accent, and I do love the font on that sentiment. Hugs to you dear friend. Bev

It was interesting that you smooched each cut piece individually rather than making a large background and then cutting it. It made it look like there are literally six different canvases and I love it, Hannelie! I'm glad that you are keeping busy and creative to help ease the ache of missing your girl. I can't believe she is starting her third year already!! Thank you so much for joining in my NBUS Challenge #7!! Hugs, Darnell

Hi Hannelie,
Thank you for finding inspirations in my card to create your card. Your background panel is so creative with each piece a unique work of art. Love it. I really appreciate your kind comments about my card. Know it's hard to say a temporary good-bye to your daughter ... always hard when our children leave. Hugs, Marilyn

This is a stunning card, Hannilie. I love the bright colors of the watercolored panels with the black branch really makes it pop. Your daughter will be thrilled to receive this card. Good luck to her this school year. I agree with others that it will be Christmas before we know it.

I look at your cards every day and admire them greatly. They are always so vibrant! This card is outstanding, as well. You're right about the changes around you -- stay busy doing what you love, and time will pass quickly. My two sons are across the nation, and I only get to see them once a year. Take heart that you can count the months, even weeks, until you see your daughter again! You are blessed.

What gorgeous colour blocks, Hannelie ... such a lovely background for that delicate, leafy, silhouette sprig ... Danielle will love it! I'm amazed she's starting her third year already ... doesn't the time go quickly? Hope it does for you, my friend ... and that you don't find the days too long before she's home againto celebrate Christmas with you! Hugs, Anita :)

Sounds like you had a fabulous time with your daughter! So nice to have them home, sad to see them leave! Sugar obviously feels the same!

Gorgeous card! Your inked panels are stunning. The black leaf stem totally pops. Love how you extended it above and below the inked panels.

This is really pretty, Hannelie. I know the feeling of children leaving the nest for university. I was always sad for me and happy for them, all at the same time!
