The Paper Players #306

Hi there!

Happy Sunday everyone!

Time for tic-tac-toe at The Paper Players !

I picked : enamel dots-patterned paper- die-cut, to create this card for your inspiration :)

A very simple card , designed in the Silhouette studio.
The flower is a digistamp. I  grounded the image in polka dot patterned paper which was cut to 'hug' the stem of the flower. I also paper pieced the center of the flower with the polka dots.

I added my own sentiment, and some enamel dots ;)

I can't wait to see which combination of our tic-tac-toe will give your mojo a kick this week :)

I am adding my link to the following challenges:

Just us girls ~ Let's hear it for the girls

Muse card club  ~ I used Linda's card as inspiration incorporating the following elements:
  • Flower theme and placement of flower and sentiment
  • Polka dots
  • Die cutting to add interest to the flower

A couple of tags

Hi there !

I almost never make tags... don't know why !

But when I saw the challenge at CASual fridays this morning, with all the amazing examples of the design team, I got inspired!

I made not one, but three! There's something about a set of tags that just make me happy, and while I had everything on my desk, I thought, why not!?

My collection of 3 ;

I used the set called wallflower from CASual fridays stamps, watercolored it with my Zigs, and finished the tags off with black ribbon and an enamel dot.

Quick, easy and fun!

Also adding my link to :

Have a great weekend!

CAS(e) this sketch # 183

Hi there!

Another Thursday means another CAS(e) this sketch challenge!

Chrissy's sketch with the bird theme got stuck in my head and this is what I made for your
inspiration :

A close up:

... and another angle:

As always when using foil, there are so many angles to show off, each one showing something different!

I created the BG strips and sentiment in the Silhouette studio. After I printed the BG with a laser printer, I added the foil with a laminator.

The peacock  was a free die I received with the Simply Cards (Australian) magazine.

I cut it from watercolor paper and colored it with my Zig Clean color markers.

I finished off the card with a couple of rhinestones.

I am adding my link to the following challenges:

Less is more ~ Use something tactile ( the foil has a real smooth feel to it, in contrast with the water                          colored peacock and rhinestone)

Simon says stamp Wednesday challenge ~ Anything goes.

Simon says stamp Monday challenge ~ Add some texture.

Please join us this week at CAS(e) this sketch!

Thanks so much for visiting me today!

CASology : Journey

Hi there!

Time to announce this week's cue card at CASology !

We are all on a journey in life at any given time, so let's make the best of every moment, good or bad!

life is a journey card

A closer look:

life is a journey card

I designed my card in the Silhouette studio.

To go with the theme of journey, I tried to create a BG that look likes a road.

My road is the letter "S" from the font 'bauhaus 93' . I stretched it to fill the card from top to bottom and side to side. I then did an internal offset, and sliced the inner part using the knife function, removing alternative pieces to create negative space which represents the road markings.

I have 2 sentiments to share, please feel free to download and use it!

The Paper Players #305

Hi there!

We have a sketch for your inspiration this week at The Paper Players !

LeAnne designed this sketch with so many wonderful possibilities :

My take on the sketch:

Hello CAS card

A closer look:

I created the vertical panel with 1 cm strips of colored cardstock. I extended 2 of the strips and cut little fishtails into it to fit the sketch.
The circle element and bird were cut with my Silhouette.
I finished off the card with a simple hello sentiment, stamped with Versafine black ink, and a couple of enamel dots.

I used inspiration from the following challenges :

Color Throwdown  ~ Colors

Happy little stampers  ~ Anything goes with dies

I can't wait to see what you create with LeAnne's sketch this week!

Something different to share today...

Hi there!

I haven't done any sewing in a very long time, but a tiny bug has bitten me, and I got all inspired to take out my sewing machine !

I attempted something I had never tried before (first time ever making something with a lining :) , and I must say, I enjoyed every moment of making this bag:

Simplicity handbag pattern 2396

My South-African friends will recognize the fabric which is very popular at the moment in South-Africa, printed will all kinds of (old and new) Afrikaans sayings and quotes.

The pattern is from Simplicity , really easy, with no fuss, and even though my sewing skills are a bit rusty, everything went smoothly!

I will definitely make more... my sister already ' ordered' one for Christmas!

I am also busy crocheting granny squares for a blanket ... hope to share the pictures soon.

Thanks for popping in to look at my 'something other than paper project'!
Have a great weekend!

CAS(e) this sketch #182

Hi there!

Welcome to my Thursday post where I share my inspiration for this week's CAS(e)this sketch !

My card:

Thinking of you card

A closer look:

Thinking of you card

I used a die from Sizzix  (branch with leaves) , cut twice, once in green, and once in black to create a shadow effect.
I added a couple of flowers (cottage cutz dies) , and finished the card off with a couple of tiny pearls and my own digital sentiment banner.

CASology : Rough

Hi there!

I am popping in to invite you to be inspired by the new cue card at CASology !

My take on the cue:

rough seas make the best sailors

I used a Silhouette file (Design ID #19372) to cut a stencil for my card. The design in its original form is quite large with a lot of detail, and I had to modify it a bit to make it suitable for a CAS card.

I sponged through the stencil with 3 different shades of blue distress ink, added a couple of enamel dots and my own sentiment.

More fabulous inspiration awaits when you click the links below ;)

The Paper Players #304

Hi there!

It's time for my favorite challenge of the month at The paper players... Clean & Simple time , and Jaydee is our hostess, who chose the topic/medium... watercolor!

My card:

watercolored and stenciled card

A closer look:

I used a stencil and watercolor to create my card. Remember when you stencil with watercolor, you need to restrict the amount of water, to avoid color bleeding through the stencil.

The sentiment is from Uniko studio (Flower Power#1)

I am adding my link to the following challenges:

Uniko studio  ~ Flowers.

Less is more ~ Repetition ( repeated stenciled rose, stamped sentiment and added pearls).

Freshly made sketches ~ Layout.

CAS(e) this sketch #181

Hi there!

Time for a new sketch at CAS(e) this sketch ! It's a classic CAS sketch designed by Leigh!

Here's my take on it:

grateful heart in stripes

... and a closer look:

grateful heart in stripes

I designed the stripe stencil in my Silhouette studio, or I should rather say 2 stencils. One for the vertical stripes, and another for the horizontal striped heart.

I first stenciled the vertical stripes, and then continued with the striped heart, using distress inks in the following colors: Picked raspberry, spiced marmalade and mustard seed.

I finished off the card with a Silhouette cut sentiment from the Silhouette online store. (Design ID #102616)

I would like to play along with the STRIPE challenge at Addicted to CAS

&

MAKE YOUR MARK challenge at Addicted to stamps

Casology : ART

Hi there!

I am back from my holiday, and this is my first live blog post in about a month!

We had a wonderful time with family and friends in South-Africa, but it's always good to be back home, and especially back in my craft room and reunited with my dear furry friend Sugar. Boy, I missed my doggy child so much!

So... it's Tuesday and time to be inspired by a new cue card at CASology !

This was one of those cards where I knew from the first moment the direction I want to go... and to top it all, I love the result too!

Mondrian inspired birthday card

A close up of the sentiment:

Mondrian inspired birthday card

I designed my card in the Silhouette Studio (no surprise ;)

I created the black frame by 'welding' together  strips inspired by the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian. I then cut the 3 colored blocks, and popped them up with foam tape on the card base with my sentiment. To add interest to my sentiment, I colored some of the negative space created by decreasing the character space, with my Promarkers in red, yellow and blue.

You are welcome to download my sentiment:

CAS(e) this sketch #180

Hi there!

Popping in with this week's card for your inspiration at CAS(e) this sketch !

I believe we need 'I love you' cards all year round, and not just for Valentine's day!

I never show more than 2 pictures/angles of a card, but just thought I need to show you how different the foiled letters look from different angles!

The color of the Decofoil is PINK MELON

I designed the white panel in the Silhouette studio, used the print (laser printer) and cut function for the letters, and foiled them with a laminator.

Every time I use these foils, it's like an AHA! moment when I remove the foil and see the amazing effect!
LOVE it!

Thanks for the visit :)
Hope to see you play along this week!
