A sympathy card.

Hi there!

It's good to be back in the craft room after a small break. This week  Eid al adha is celebrated in  the UAE, and most people (including hubby and daughter) have the whole week off. So we visited our neighbour city of Dubai... and enjoyed a few days at the Dubai Marina. A very relaxing time, spent almost all the time next to the pool, strolling around the Marina, admiring all the huge yachts and enjoying the huge variety of worldwide cuisine that's available!

Two photos from the 52nd floor of our hotel:

And below : one of my favorite buildings in Dubai

On to my card:

Unfortunately I need a sympathy card today, since a family member passed away... a young man of 33 who lost his short battle against the big C. He died just more than 3 months after he was diagnosed.

I took a few photos from different angles to show the effect of light through the vellum.

I used white vellum, which was colored in a circular movement with 2 different shades of purple using Promarkers.

The rose was cut from a clipart image I traced using the Silhouette software. It was then placed on top of the vellum, which again was placed on the inside of the rose shape aperture, also cut with my Silhouette.

To define the image I added some faux stitching.

My own digital sentiment to finish everything off.
... and shared in English and Afrikaans.

Such a long post, I almost forgot the challenges:

Cas-ual fridays  ~ In stitches
Addicted to cas. ~transparent
Addicted to stamps  ~ make your mark. (use markers)

Thanks so much for visiting me today!

Have a blessed day!
Hugs

Such a beautiful card, Hannelie. Love how you showcased the rose and used vellum. I enjoy seeing what you create with your Silhouette. I'm still on the fence about getting one due to the cost. Nice photos of Dubai too. Thank you for the sentiment as well - so sorry to hear of the passing of someone so young.
