Casology : ART

Hi there!

I am back from my holiday, and this is my first live blog post in about a month!

We had a wonderful time with family and friends in South-Africa, but it's always good to be back home, and especially back in my craft room and reunited with my dear furry friend Sugar. Boy, I missed my doggy child so much!

So... it's Tuesday and time to be inspired by a new cue card at CASology !

This was one of those cards where I knew from the first moment the direction I want to go... and to top it all, I love the result too!

Mondrian inspired birthday card

Mondrian inspired birthday card

I designed my card in the Silhouette Studio (no surprise ;)

I created the black frame by 'welding' together  strips inspired by the Dutch artist Piet Mondrian. I then cut the 3 colored blocks, and popped them up with foam tape on the card base with my sentiment. To add interest to my sentiment, I colored some of the negative space created by decreasing the character space, with my Promarkers in red, yellow and blue.

You are welcome to download my sentiment:

Thank you so much for visiting me!
Hope to see you play along this week at CASology!

I love it...clean, fresh feeling. Has a great vintage feel to it as well.
For some really odd, strange reason, I thought of the Brady Bunch as soon as I saw your card!! LOL..you just never know what comes up in my brain!
TFS and hugs,

Wow! What a great card! I love how you did the sentiment with the touch of red and the fonts are perfect! I read a lot of blogs and I never see anyone use their Silhouette like you do. :) A Silhouette has been on my wish list for a few years now, but I fear if I get one I'll never be able to do what you do with yours. :) Just fabulous!

I think it was a genius idea to add those little pops of color to your sentiment! This is a great card and would work well for either gender.

I love this! One of my favorite artists, and you've captured his essence perfectly with your very cool card. The bold black and white with the primary colors just scream Mondrian. The bit of coloring in your awesome sentiment works perfectly. I love this card. It's absolutely stunning!!! Glad you're back home by your little Sugar! Bev

Love Mondrian and your card, Hannelie. I did one similar a while ago and we painted one wall in my granddaughter's basement a Mondrian inspired mural.

This is fantastic. I knew it reminded me of an actual artist, but could not remember the name. This is really brilliant.

Oh I'm sure you had a good holiday. Nothing like seeing old friends and family but it's always good to get home. It's been 3 years since my last visit and I haven't been back to Cape Town since I left. My hart is seer! Love this bright and bold card with the way you added touches of color in the sentiment. Amazing! Have a fab week-end x
