Just us Girls #518 - Guest Designer January - Create Dimension

Hi there !

So happy to be the guest designer at Just us girls challenge this month! I missed the first challenge because we were on vacation in South-Africa during the Christmas period ... but here I am... ready for challenge #518, the second one of the new year!

I was so exited to see dimension as the theme for trend week ! I think dimension is such a powerful tool in card making... especially in clean and simple designs.

I decided to go for a total 3 dimensional card as my inspiration :

I used :

  • Design #169807 by Lori Whitlock from the Silhouette store.
  • Altenew classy stripe stencil
  • Distress inks
  • Versafine black ink
  • Sentiment stamp from Mudra craft stamps
  • White crochet string
  • Foam dots for dimension

What I love about this card is that it lays flat and fits in an A2 envelope for mailing, but when the recipient opens the card it stands up to form an X-shape with the floating heart in the middle.
Fold-able and mailing friendly dimension... a  win-win !

Hope to see you join the fun this week at Just Us Girls!

I am sharing my card at :

Time Out Challenges - Photo inspiration

The striped heart immediately caught my eye and I decided to use it as my focal point. The depth created by the mirror in the neutral/white background was the inspiration for the dimensional fold/layout :)

Thanks for visiting me today!

Hannelie, I love this card. Saw it first over on FB, and had to come and leave you a comment to let you know. Full-on 3D is most certainly dimensional! Love the stripes and the scalloped edges on the heart. Might have to CASE this one. Happy New Year. xo Bev

How pretty is that! Your striped heart is definitely the attention-grabber, and the 3-D card fold only adds to the fun effect.

I love that the pretty heart twirls when the card is opened. Great design and I will be using it soon. The new technique to me is making the card stand up. Beautiful card, Hannelie.

Your card is fantastic and so much fun, Hannelie. I may have to try something like this if I can figure out how to do it without a Silhouette. Thanks for being our guest this month.
