Hi there!
Popping in to share 2 cards I made yesterday ! Buckle up for a long post :)
Here's number 1:
I started by die cutting the cork heart. Then added the stenciled detail, heat embossed it, and adhered it to the card base which was prepared by die cutting a larger heart aperture, and placing a piece of vellum on the inside of the card front. To reinforce the card and to hide the glue marks , I adhered another piece of card stock (die cut with the same heart) on the inside. The sentiment was stamped with black ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
The second photo shows the beautiful soft see through look the vellum provides. I love the contrast between the cork and vellum!

I used :
- Stencil by Hero Arts (Tropical background)
- Colorbox Pigment ink
- Ranger white embossing powder
- Cork sheets from local stationery shop
- Vellum
- Versafine black ink & clear embossing powder
- Sizzix heart dies
- 2 small pearls
Challenges :
CAS mix up ~ Felt, cork or canvas + stamping + your choice (die cutting, embossing, stenciling)
CAS on Friday ~ Use a die(s)
Inkspirational challenges ~ Aperture
So... I made a second card ... meaning to enter Darnell's Twofer card challenge... but after carefully reading all the rules, I saw that my card(s) doesn't qualify... because you need to have 2 cards with completely different designs. Since I only changed the colors , textures and occasions, and not the layout... I am only sharing it here on the blog because I think you might be surprised about the totally different effect color can bring to a design!
But... I will be back with two cards for the Twofer challenge... promise! 😊
Here's card number 2 :

Here's card number 2 :
For this heart I used alcohol inks (my first try) and the alcohol / stencil lifting technique inspired by Jennifer Macguire.
Same stencil and dies as listed above, but instead of the aperture, I used an additional layer of orange glitter paper by American crafts and a sentiment from the Label Love set by Altenew.
Thanks for visiting!
Wishing you a peaceful Sunday!

Mooie kaarten !!!!
Love the stencilling on the cork heart, Hannelie. The vellum gives an airy lightness to the whole beautiful (heavenly) design. Both cards are lovely!
Thanks for joining us at CAS Mix Up! xx
The stenciling on the cork is AWESOME!! Love the design with the cork and white ... very beautiful with the vellum sentiment, Hannelie. Your orange version is a real WOW! card. Love that bright colours and the great technique of lifting the colour with the stencil. Thanks for sharing with us at CAS Mix Up! xx
Gorgeous cards Hannelie! I LOVE the cork - so much texture. BTW, congrats on the Altenew win! Stunning card, easy to see why it was selected.
Wow, the orange and black is so impactful, Hannelie ... gorgeously glittery and so striking! Adore the cork and vellum version ... it's dreamy and texture-y and so deliciously fresh! So happy to read you're going to play along with us at Twofer ... looking forward to seeing what you create in the gallery! Hugs, Anita :)
Wow...I love your design!...and am so glad you shared the second card. It's color difference is striking and I would never have thought of using black and orange!♥
Wow, gorgeous cards, Hannelie. Thanks for joining us at CAS on Friday. Luv, Wilma
Colors sure do change the look on these two lovely cards Hannelie - Great design with the die cut opening so the cork heart is actually on the inside! Love the white stenciling on the first one - and thanks for sharing with us in the CAS Mix Up Challenge! Julia xx
Ces deux cartes sont absolument superbes !! J'ai un énorme coup de cœur pour la 1ère !!
Bises ♥
I love, love, love the contrast between the cork and the white embossed stenciling, Hannelie! And cutting the larger heart for it to peek through with the vellum sentiment makes this even more fun! Love the orange heart too! So bright and playful! Thanks so much for sharing this with us at CAS Mix Up!
I LOVE these so much, Hannelie! The stenciling on the cork is amazing!
Both your heart cards are so beautiful and creative, Hannelie. I love how you stenciled your cork heart and your creative uses of vellum. Beautiful, elegant CAS design.
Your 2nd card really pops with color! Love your black and orange color combo and your alcohol inked and color lifted heart. TFS both beauties Hannelie and sharing your 1st card with us at CAS Mix Up. Hugs..
What an innovative idea, Hannelie. Embossing cork. It looks amazing just as is but then you elevated it by adding the vellum insert. Fabulously creative!!
Oh, my, they are very similar but very different, and they both rock!
The stencilling looks like Angel Wings. Love it. A beautiful aperture card. Thanks so much for playing along at Inkspirational xx
Love the first heart - the use of the cork is perfect for CAS Mix Up, and adding the stenciling on top of it is a great design element. The second card is wonderfully vibrant. Thanks so much for joining us at CAS Mix Up!
