Hi there!
I was so excited when I saw the Work-it-Wednesday challenge at Simon says Stamp blog for this month !
The birthstone for August is the Peridot and since August is my birth month , I knew I wanted to play along!
There's also a beautiful watercolored inspiration photo at Addicted to stamps, so I decided to combine the two challenges for today's card.
I used a background stamp from Prima marketing, stamped with Versamark (watermark) and white embossed the image.
I then added color using peeled paint distress ink (Tim Holtz).
I started off with a very light wash of green, then selectively added more green , and here and there a touch of mustard seed.
I finished the card off with a sentiment, cut with my Silhouette (Font used 'Aprillia' ) and printed the rest of the sentiment on vellum (Font used Rubber stamp).
I created a digital sentiment which you are welcome to use ;)
While I was busy I also stamped and embossed 2 more backgrounds with the same stamp in gold. I painted the one in shades of blue, and the other one also in green. They are patiently waiting to become cards... I hope I will be able to share the end result with you over the weekend !
Thanks for visiting me today!
Hugs
Hannelie

What a beauty! I love green and yet rarely use it, Jo x
Gorgeous and so very cool!
Love this abstract card, Hannelie! And green is absolutely beautiful in its shades.
Oh so gorgeous! LOVE this, Hannelie! The distressed stamp, the additional color and perfection is achieved! You blew my socks off AgAiN!
I had to research Peridot ... hadn't heard of that gem before. It's so beautiful and so is your card! Thank you, once again, for sharing your lovely digital sentiments! HAPPY AUGUST BIRTHDAY, Hannelie!

One of a kind, indeed, Hannelie ... what a stunner ... love how you've captured the facets of the peridot with the wonderful watercolouring! Just spend some happy time catching up with all your creations over the past few weeks while I've been MIA ... all, as ever, gorgeous and so inspiring (gosh, wish I had another day a week, I'd be CASEing!). I was especially taken with that fabulous bag you made (so skilled!) ... and with those sweet and delicious tags! Thanks for all the sharing, my friend ... you posts are a joy to visit! Hugs, Anita :)
Love your beautiful card, Hannilie. Another stunner from your creative hand.

Oh my, Hannelie. The way you've added the color around the embossing really adds a LOT of dimension. This is so lovely and artistic. I'm so glad you shared your card at ATSM this week.
so cool!
Oh wow!! This is so cool!! I LOVE the background on this!
Beautiful card, as pretty as the gem itself!
Had to hop over to check out the green background which is just as beautiful. When in August is your special day?
Sigh!! You are such an inspiration. The green background is stunning. You are so clever with the Silhouette and fonts.
