CASology : weather

Hi there!

We loved your doodled designs last week, and today we bring you a new cue card at CASology!

We woke up this morning listening to rain against the windows and the sound of the wind howling around the corners of our villa. Not something that happens often here, so I'm loving every moment of the rainy weather.

We had a severe storm about 2 weeks ago, with lots of up rooted trees and damage to buildings. It was really scary and something the UAE ( I think )  has never seen before.
You can take a look at some interesting statistics about THE STORM over HERE.

So... today is a good day to share a weather related card!

I did some organizing last week, and found a few gems in my drawers. If you remember Fiskars texture plates, you have been crafting for a long time... like me ! It was the only way to add texture to your cards and it was hard work to get a reasonable effect. Do yourself a favor and check out THIS VIDEO on You Tube!

I found a new (to me ) way to use those old texture plates. Similar to stamping with embossing folders, I just rubbed some distress inks to it, spritzed with water, 'stamp' and there you go, so easy with a lovely effect!
I added an umbrella and flower from the wooden flourishes by KAISERCRAFT, enamel dots and my own sentiment which I will share at the end of this looooong post ;)

The sentiment as promised:

Thanks for visiting me today ... hope to see you play along!

I love what you've done with the textured plate. I do have some and now i'll try them again or for the first time. What a handsome card based on a scary stormy time.

Love your fantastic card--the little wooden elements are perfect. And, the fact that it is on kraft and not white lends it a more wintry feel.

Lovely card, and yes I do remember those plates! Are you suggesting I'm old??? jk. Hope you didn't see any damage from the storm. PS The card really is lovely, the colors just sing perfection to me :o)

The climate really has gone crazy here in Greece the leaves had not fallen from some of the trees due to a very mild winter and they are now sporting old and new leaves on the same tree ! Looks very scary especially as it is out of character to have such storms where you live. On a brighter note your card is fabulous as always , love the placement and great use of the texture plates. One reason we should never throw anything away.

Groetjes, Gerrina

I love the brick texture on your card Hannelie and the wooden umbrella and flower are adorable! Your card inspired me to play along with this challenge again this week - hope there aren't any more of those storms coming your way, looks dangerous!

Yikes! Looks like that was a scary storm - palm trees do not break easily!

Woke up to rain this morning so we're staying cozy inside today. :) Unfortunately so is everyone else - the internet is moving at a snail's pace today!!

Love your weather card. Brilliant way to reboot your Fiskars plates and I love the little circle of raindrops.

Hey Hannelie!! That storm really took some trees down. I hope things are better now. Great card. I love the colors.

You're too funny, I do remember texture plates! Those are some amazing photos from your recent storms...the wind is howling outside tonight where I am, and it is a little disconcerting...hope no trees come down. I love your card in kraft, and the wonderful sentiment you shared! Thanks!
