Today the UAE is celebrating it's 40th birthday!
It is a big day here for the UAE Nationals, and with it being 40 years today... everything in the city is colored in the colors of the flag.
The UAE is a very small country in the Middle East. It is a federation of 7 emirates - Dubai ( perhaps the best known to the world) , Abu Dhabi (where we live), Ajman, Fujairah, Ras al- Khaimah, Sharjah and Um al- Quwain. The capital is Abu Dhabi. Islam is the official religion, and Arabic the official language.
The country rely on its oil reserves for its income, as well as tourism, these days.
The climate is sub tropical-arid with hot summers and warm winters. In summer time, temperatures easily hit 45 - 53 degrees C. (113 - 127 deg F)
The UAE is also known for its cultural diversity.
That's just some interesting facts for those not familiar with the place!
