One layer leaves at LIM

Hi there!

Like Chrissie said in this week's post... a one layer card made me shiver only a few weeks ago... but now I really enjoy the challenge!

She also challenged us to interpret the challenge creatively! I only have one leaf stamp, so I suppose I could have used it, but I wanted to try something else !

So... My card is all digital ! (except for the pearl embellishments).

There is no short way to explain what I did (looks complicated , but it took only about 30 minutes). So please bear with me ;-)

I downloaded this beautiful free paper from cardmaking and paper craft to make my card. The format of the paper is a pdf document, so I did the following after the download :

1) Click on 'edit'
2) Click on 'take a snapshot'
3) Choose the paper you want to work with, and select the area by clicking and dragging the required area you want to work with.
4) Copy the selected area to a the program you want to edit it in. I copied it to MS Word.
5) It looks like this :

6) Add your sentiment ( I used 'new garden' font for mine - it reads 'it's your birthday' - in Afrikaans)
7) print your document on plain paper

8) Prepare your card front and position it on the printed paper exactly where you want it.

use a light box or a window...

9) Stick your card front to the paper with double sided tape, and print again . Make sure which way your printer feeds...

10) Remove the card front from the paper (careful)

11) Measure and score the back of your card, and attach it to the front with double sided tape.
12) Embellish (if you wish to)

I am sure there are other more sophisticated ways to achieve the same effect, but this is what I have at my disposal, and this is the way I used it.

The tutorial was tested on my hubby, and he said he would be able to make a card just like mine!

And ... at last!! The end result!!

Thank you also for the tutorial. I have never succeeded in printing straight onto a card.It always ends up in the wrong place. I may have another go now I have seen how you do it.
I spotted your card on the Make it Monday linky party and popped over to say hi. I am so glad I did as I have a great tutorial now.
