Happy Birthday Jolize !

Hi there !

Today I want to share a birthday card I made for our eldest daughter. It's her 22nd birthday tomorrow and I decided on a bird themed card. She loves our cockatiel and takes great care of her whenever she visits us! This is no cockatiel, but a very cute bird, don't you think!?

The bird and cage are both from the dingbat font called Doodle dings - bird cages

The bird is represented by the letter 'u' on the keyboard.

The cage is represented by the letter 'l' on the keyboard.

This font has so many cute birds and different cages, even some doodled flowers!

I started off by printing the bird on the bottom layer of the card. I colored her with my yellow promarker and gave her rosy cheeks by applying a little pink chalk with a q-tip.

For the top layer I only applied cutting lines for the inner part of the cage (changed the outer line to 'no cut') , and used the black fill option. I wanted to put her 'inside' the cage and she needs to be able to see what's going on around her! Did that by popping up the top layer with foam tape.

The 'birthday' font is called broadway.
The 'wishes' font is called  fox in the snow.

Every cute bird needs some bling, so I hung the cage with a few rhinestones.

I used the sketch from Freshly made sketches.

Also adding my link to Darnell's NBUS challenge ( I do believe this applies to NBU digis too because that's a big part of my stash! ;)

Here's a picture of our 2 girls... birthday girl on the left!

Lekker verjaar Jolize! So lief vir jou... wens jy was hier om saam te vier!

Thanks for visiting me today!

Fabulous card! I love how you gave the wee bird some room to move around inside her cage - sure adds some nice depth and dimension! Great mix of the two fonts!

Such a cute cute cute card, Hannelie! I absolutely love the bird. And you always amaze me with your creative process. I'd never have turned a dingbats font into a cut-file though now, I'm of course asking me why. This is so clever. I hope your daughter had a great birthday.
