With love

Hi there!

While I was busy making this card, I was wondering about something...

How far should one go exploring techniques, styles, etc , out of ones comfort zone? Or should you stick to the methods, styles, you are "known for" , or "good at" or feel comfortable with ?

What do you think?

With this card I am way out of my comfort zone, regarding technique. But still trying to stay true to myself. As always when I try something like this (watercolor & stencil) I feel a bit nervous to share the end result... but here's my card for today!

I am sharing my card at the Inkspirational challenge , where the challenge is to use rose colors.
Since we had to use the beautiful shades of a rose, I thought I might as well use a rose as image too!

The sentiment is my own, it's an oldie, but if you missed it the previous time, here it is again ;

Thanks for looking!

Do you know I'm always wondering about this too. I admire all the wonderful techniques and creativity around blogland and question whether I should push myself to try new things more often. You certainly seem to have adapted brilliantly with this card Hannelie, so I admire your versatility once again!

I think you have kept true to your style here and have rocked the technique. Pleased you shared with us at Ink. I think about this too and now and then try something new but when it comes down to it, what makes me really happy is simple stamping with a bit of watercolouring when I feel like it. I feel I should try other things but this is what we do for fun, so why not stick with what makes us really happy!

This is beautiful and it has your signature on it. I like to try new things, allthough I do have the same feeling about sharing them publicly. I usually do since I believe this crafting community is so warm-hearted that other crafters usually encourages you when you're trying new things and I find it a wonderful thing to have. That is one reason why I keep this blog, to give and to get! And, if I wouldn't be so familiar with your previous work, I wouldn't notice that you are out of your comfort zone... :)

I dabble in new techniques and enjoy trying them out even if the results don't quite turn out as I hoped! This card is lovely, Cathy x

Love your question...I have to remind myself that creating is about relaxing for me...so going to what I love (stamps and inks) is the best option for me...but I try to look for inspiration to spark my ruts at times!

I love the soft feel of your card Hannalie. Thanks so much for sharing it.

I think you can stay true to yourself and try new techniques. Sometimes going outside your comfort zone will help you discover something new within yourself. I LOVE this card with the stencil and the watercolor. I don't think mine would look this good. My watercolor cards tend to be more messy and imperfect. I like that yours is so clean. Lovely card.

I enjoy seeing a signature style among card makers, but I couldn't tell you what my own style is. I love all the styles and so I tend to try new techniques. Your rose is beautiful, there is simple elegance in this card.

The thing I love about card-making is that there is always something to learn and it definitely keeps my interest, even after 12+ years. At the same time, it's comforting to stick to what we know sometimes. I have to be in the mood to try something new - especially if it's something that's likely to take plenty of practice. I think this card is still definitely a "Hannelie-card" - beautifully graphic and bold.

While I can't speak for anyone else, I like to step outside my comfort zone every now and then. But if I'm terribly uncomfortable with a technique, then out it goes. I have to have a "feel" for it, if you know what I mean. This is really lovely. You've done quite well, and I'm so happy you shared this with us. Your courage to make and then share gives others encouragement to try new things. Well done you!! Bev

Mooi gedaan!
